My Computer keeps restarting!!?
-
i have a windows XP from emachines...but my problem is a long story... on friday january 15 2010 i logged on to my computer just fine, everything was normal and nothing unexpected happened..but then i kept getting this java update message from my computer (i trusted it since my verizon security suite hesitatedcted any viruses for a good 3 months) so i went ahead and finally heeded it since it kept popping up. it downloaded fine and then i went on the internet and went to youtube..but then i noticed that the videos wouldn't work...it said that my flasflash player outdated and that i needed to reinstall a current one (???) so i did and the vids worked...and everything went fine and i had to turn off the computer later...but i turned it off like normal with the start menu option, until my brother came and pressed the button to turn it off quicker..i didn't really think that was anything bad...but it wasn't until sunday night that i came home agian and turned on the computer the internet light on the modem worked, but i noticed that the light to indicate the computer is on wasnwasn't. i turned on the computer and it was on a screen that said ""We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change may have caused this..or the power wan interrupted or the computer was shut down improperly" it gave options like Safe Mode/ Safe Mode with Command Prompt/ or Last known Configuration and just Start Normally...i picked start normally, but then it just gets to the windows XP screen and it makes a clicking sound and restarts....i was surprised since nothing happened on thursday and none of my scans said anything..ive tried every option on the black screen, but nothing works..i cant get on my computer and (this has happened before, but something was with the drivers and i had a crap-load of viruses before) im not sure what set this off i have some family photos and videos that id rather not delete so re-installation is a last resort..please help me figure this out..ive been told to disable auto-restart..but im not tech savvy and id rather not mess anything else up..i need some guidance

Well if the clicking noise is constant and coming from the hard drive, it's dead and you most likely won't be able to recover you files.
