Where do I look for Windows Firewall?

Windows XP Virus Help?

  • My laptop just contracted a virus of some sort. My iTunes and Mozilla crashed, and something called "Security Protection" opened up and began a scan. This program appears phony; it doesn't look like an official Windows security center. I ran a full scan on McAfee, which came back clean. When I try to open iTunes or Mozilla, a pop-up message from a Windows icon I've never seen before in the bottom right corner of the screen by the time, says "iTunes.exe can not start. File iTunes.exe is infected by W32/Blaster.worm Please activate Security Protection to protect your computer." This is what it says for Mozilla and Word too. The other window I mentioned earlier is performing a scan, although the file names it's showing don't look familiar. Also, a pop-up window at the bottom right of the screen says "FIREWALL WARNING hidden file transfer to remote host has been detected." Then it shows a Remote host transfer IP, Remote user computer name, my first name, and an IP-address. I know this is annoying to read through, but if anybody could help me out I'd really appreciate it.

  • Answer:

I had that same problem. I fixed it by doing a system restore. Idk if you can do that on Windows XP though. If I were you, I'd back up all my pictures and music, or anything that doesn't seem suspicious. Then, I'd just restart the machine to factory condition.
