What are pop-ups in my computer?

Computer virus (type unknown, bulk popups)?

  • My friend destroyed his computer (from porn) I won’t lie, it’s his shame not mine. But I’m bringing it over today to try and fittle with it and see if i can restore it for him. *I know, bring it to a professional or you'll mess it up more.* *I have fixed this computer once before for him but of course who can stay away from internet porn. -_- **The problems that he told me are pop up pages (in bulk when trying to use the computer)** My ideas are to: -Perform a System restore (after saving music files on a USB) -Go into programs and find any curious looking programs or ones I’ve worked with before and delete/ research up on them. -Install Lavasoft - ad aware and running quick scans to get small things out of the way, restart, and then do a full scan. -I also want to delete off all the other profiles on the computer and start a fresh one to put all of his things (if they aren’t corrupt) WORSE COMES TO WORSE- If he even has it, which God knows he probably won’t, I might try to reinstall his OS entirely so he has a 100% fresh start. **Please let me know of anything else that could help fix my friends computer. (Nothing that costs $, I'm doing this out of fun, it's not something that NEEDS to be done or else.)** *I want to point out that I’m only 18, not a pro (obviously). So don't just write silly crap to try and dis my ideas or anything, I know how it goes with these questions. And don’t go saying idk what I’m talking about either, I have a solid grasp on things to do in these situations but overlook more complex ways of resolving this issue.

  • Answer:

If you do it in one step then just format the computer and put some good antivirus to protect it. Or follow the step if you don't want to format. Step 1: Download "Advanced System Care" software or don't download if you already have it. :P Step 2: Install Avast Antivirus or Kasper-sky Antivirus. this two viruses are great. Step 3: First Scan the computer with avast. if their is any viruses just delete those. Step 4: Click start-> all programs-> advanced system care -> all tools -> disk doctor..... and then scan all your drives. if there is any problems in your computer it will tell you to restart the computer. you have to restart the computer and the software will check your drives individually.. once it is completed your computer will start properly. Step 5: start-> all programs-> advanced system care -> all tools -> registry defrag.... then click next to defrag the registry.... and you are done... it will take maximum 30 to 45 minute... or 1 to 1.30hour if your friend computer is a slow computer... Thank you..

Download Malwarebyte and install on the computer. Try and just run a scan, if the software closes, boot the computer into safe mode (normally press the f8 key several times). When in safe mode, do a scan there.
