How does short term disability work?

Not going back to work after short term disability is up...?

• I am 35 weeks pregnant and am worried I won't be able to get my schedule changed to what I need after I come back from my 6 weeks off. I have heard from some people that you're STD can be taken back if you don't go back to work, but have also heard the exact opposite...that you get it wether you come back or not. Anyone know where I can find the law on short term disability in Pennsylvania? I tried to search for it but wasn't lucky in finding a website.

  You'll have to talk to your employer. I received short-term disability for 6 weeks with my second pregnancy. Before I left for maternity leave, I told my employer that my husband got orders to another state (military), so we'd be moving and I wouldn't be returning to work. They were happy to work with me and I still got all 6 weeks of disability without any problems. I'll do some research and see if I can find out specifically, but I'd just contact your HR person and talk to them.
