What is SPCA?

Am i a bad person for taking a stray dog to the SPCA? and what are the chances the dog will be adopted?

  • A small Chihuahua without tags showed up in my back yard a few days ago. upon investigation we found the dog might have belonged to a old lady that had moved to another state two months earlier, this information came form a young source. I have two large dogs and a baby on the way. I feel like a bad person for taking the dog to the SPCA but I dont think I have any other choice. please give my your incite, am i doing the right thing? do you think the Chihuahua will live??

  • Answer:

No, you are not a bad person at all. Most people wouldn't even bother to help it. I think you did the right thing, they will take good care of it there. Chihuahuas are adorable and very loveable dogs im sure someone will adopt it.

Picture it this way: the Chihuahua may be adopted by a really great family. I adopted my cat from the SPCA. If you hadn't found that dog, who knows what could have happened to him! It's not your responsibility to take in any stray dog you see. That's the SPCA's responsibility! So don't feel bad about it. Who knows? Maybe you saved that dog's life by taking him off the street.

don't feel bad at all. as long as you and neighbors don't know its owner. Chihuahuas are very adoptable, shouldn't be a problem.

The poor dog has a 50/50 chance of being adopted like any other dog or cat has @ these places and no one is at fault when it comes to a dog or cat or any other animal that comes to there home. Most people who love animals already have what type critter they wish to have and now a days can't afford to care for another and so many are being giving to the SPCA or a shelter simply because the critter can't be cared 4 any longer so NO you are not a BAD person for trying to get this little dog a new home and MOST times the little dogs find a home before a bigger one does.At least it wont be on the street looking for food or happen to get run over or another dog get its teeth into it. I really don't like the SPCA since they do put the critters down rather a no kill shelter but if have none there this is better. You already have enough to be worried about

Their is a lot of demand for smaller dogs like Chihuahuas.. especially soon as they come into rescue they go out quite quickly no matter what age they are. First of all they will scan the dog, if no owner can be found within 7 days it goes up for legal adoption. up to that point the owner can get their pet back. When a dog comes up for adoption they are neutered speyed and vacced adn wormed. Now say if this SPCA are was more of a staffie area and they couldnt home it, they would move it to one where it would stand a better chance of been rehomed. Or in the uk, dogs are moved around to another rescue.. Eg this area where i live is a staffie area.. and one of rescues i help out with is a collie area, so it would be better to move it to a rescue where it has more chance of been homed. Most dogs do get rehomed, even dogs who have a tragic outcome.. Badger my dog was neglected abused and viscious.. he was in rescue waiting for a home for a year and half... we took the risk, retrained him.. two years on hes a show dog.. because at the time he was in the rescue who could offer him the best.

no, your not a bad person. youve done the right thing and the dog will be cared for now,and it has a probably 50/50 chance of being adopted

little chace to be adopeted be 4 it dies from the spca and you are a good person for careing about the poor thing i wish i could get it but to young and to many animals my mom and dad wont let me have more pets
