My turtle won't open its eyes...help?

Turtle wont open eyes and barely moves?

  • OK i dont know where to start i woke up and my 2 year old had my baby redear upstairs and i took him back and put him in his tank then about 5 to 10 min later my girl friend screamed saying hes dead. he was upside down and i picked him and he started to move but he wont open his eyes and wont go in his shell just sits there and then like goes crazy and stops i dont know what happendbut when he flips out swimming he winds up flipping over on his back and i have to turn him over . please help i dont think his neck is broke he does hold it up but after a few min its on the floor

    Well I don't know much about turtles but I do know reptiles, and they burn their energy reserves fast which can only be replaced by eating or basking. Basking is faster but eating helps too. it's possible he's still freaked out and just tired from trying to get away from your kid. But it's also unfortunately possible he was dropped. strange behavior should always be closely monitored and if continued a vets bill comes next of you want to save the little guy.

Take him to the vet!! Your 2 year old shouldn't be able to have access to the tank in the first place. I think his reactions seem to be caused by pain, they are coping mechanisms to help him deal with the pain.

hi lil_dead_shroom this is Dustin Gardener Im not an expert on turtles but these people seem to know what they are talking about! Turtles flipping on their back can be a result of stress from being inside a glass aquarium. They will usually flip themselves back over with no problem. I found some links to forums about the issue!
