My cat is dying of kidney problems?

My cat is dying of kidney problems...?

• My cat is 14 years old--and while that may seem pretty old, my cat was doing very well a couple weeks ago. About a week or so ago, my dog ran the cat up a tree. The cat over-exerted himself and now he has chronic renal failure. He's not eating, and if he drinks at all its not very much. It's extremely difficult for him to move. We took him to two vets, and both of them basically said he will or won't die. We are on the verge of putting him down, but some further advice would be appreciated. What would you do if this was your cat? Can we do some kind of kidney transplant? Keep in mind that this cat has been with me almost my whole life, and is a special part of my family. Thanks much.

  Kidney transplant is not an option. There is little that can be done. The doctor could try to treat, but a positive outcome is low. Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is to say goodbye. Give your friend some hugs and kisses.
