Fibre optic not fast enough?
-
well you see, just before i got my fibre optic, i was jumping with joy, thinking about the lagless online matches i would experience but when i got fibre optic, i realise its not the case... my fibre optic (said to be) speed is 100mbps download and 50mbps upload... but when i run a speed test, i only got 10 mbps down and 12 mbps up... this really hurts me.. i want to play black ops running on full bar but all i got was 3 bars...could someone pls tell me whats wrong with my fibre optic.. i thought that i would have a optimal gaming experience... NOTE: i am using a aztech wireless home plug extender as my modem is on the first floor and my mac and ps3 is on the 3rd floor

You will probably find it is the homeplug system. Signal drops off quite quickly through the power circuit - could be less than 20% strength if the wiring distance is more than 30 metres from 3rd floor to to the router on the first floor. Try plugging a laptop or your PS3 straight into the router on the first floor.
I pay for 6 mbps and my online games run perfectly fine. Remember lag may come from other players too who don't have a good connection, no matter how fast yours is. Your ISP may offer services up to 100mbps but what are you actually paying for? Even if you're paying for 100mbps you'll never reach that speed, it's a theoretical max.
What speed do you get with a wired connection? Wireless will always be slower, so you may need a long Ethernet cable.
The number of bars has very little to do with your Internet access and more to do with the distance between your computer and the server you are playing on. Pick a closer server and you will get more bars.
