If I reset my router will I lose the ISP username and password?
-
I forgot the login to my router setup page. I want to physically reset the router to its default settings and that means that the ISP username and password will be wiped, right? If I connect the dlink router by eternet cable will I be able to enter without a password? Is there any way to enter the router page and recover the information before I reset? Thanks.

Answer:
Yes the username will be erased as well as the password when you rest the router. Note that we are talking about two pairs of usernames and passwords here. One is for the router's setup page. The other is with the SSID (Service Set ID) where you see the ISP's name. Actually, routers don't need to have your ISP's name. It was just named as such by the person who set up the router. It can be any name that you like. The name will be detected by your wifi adapter and you will be able to connect to it using the correct passphrase assigned to it. So go ahead and reset it. When you reset it, the username and password will return to default. Get them here: http://routerpasswords.com/ No, there's no way you can save the original settings if you don't know the username and password to the setup page. It can only be done when you are inside the page. Unfortunately, you can't log in to the setup page so you are forced to reset the router.

Yes all will be erased. Please call your ISP and get the: VPI, VCI, username. password. The usual username: admin The usual password: Admin Connect a port 1 of router with ethernet of your PC.
you sure will
The ISP username and password log-in values are on the modem; not the router. Pushing the reset button (usually on the backside) will give default values for the device. You should be able to continue to get Internet even after default router values are initiated. This would of course drop any security parameters you have currently, assuming you are dealing with a WiFi router. CAT5 cable computer-to-router connection > open a browser> type correct URL for the router ( 192.168._._ depending on the make/model) should give the Administrative interface, after the reset.
