When you formatted your hard drive you deleted all of the drivers for your computer. Windows is attempting to run on generic drivers but as you can tell the video isn't working right, and your sound is inoperative. If your system is a dell, gateway, or hp machine you will need to go to the manufacturers web site and download the drivers for your system. If your system is a plain jane Mom and Pop build you will need to figure out what motherboard your have, and what video card or chip is installed. You will most likely have to pop open your machine to do this... look for a model and version number stamped on the motherboard. If you have a stand alone video card you will need to do the same for this. With that info in hand you can go to their manufactures support site and download the video drivers. The Belarc Advisor also may help you figure out your motherboard info. http://belarc.com/
