Annoying, occasional flickering on my monitor?

How do I stop my second monitor from flickering on dual monitor mode?

  • I recently installed a new graphics card on my pc so I could run dual monitors. The dual monitors are working and look great but the second monitor for extended screen space flickers every 7 seconds or so. I checked the refresh rate and that is not the problem, the cords are tested and fine and the driver I installed is the latest update (from the manufacturer web site) for the graphics card on Vista 64. This seems to be a common problem so I am hoping there is a common solution. Please help if you can I spent $70 on the card so I can work in dual monitor mode but the flickering is a major distraction. Below are the specs and setup. Thanks a lot! PC: HP Pavillion Triple Core AMD Phenom (Windows Home Vista Premium 64 Bit) Graphics Card: PNY NVIDIA GE Force 210 Primary Monitor (HP w1907 LCD connected by VGA cord) Secondary Monitor (HP w1907 LCD Connected by DVI cord) As I said before everything is as it should be but the flicker occurs frequently., so if you know how to correct this problem please let me know. Thanks Again

  • Answer:

I had the SAME issue, to a MUCH smaller frequency. I have a ATI 4850. I just kinda ignored it because it was once every 20mins or so. After installing win7 the problem seem to fix. I have a TON of RAM 16gigs TONS of harddrive space 2tb. So the only thing I could figure out was the video card mixed with the OS, even with the proper drivers it still did it. Once you try "everything" all that is left is to reformat and see if the issue is still there with a clean install.
