Which monitor to get?

Which monitor should i get?

  • I just got a Nvidia Gtx 280 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3949935&CatId=3669) But right now i have a 19" monitor so i need to upgrade for my new video card. i want to have a monitor with 1920 x 1200 resolution, is less then $500, and 22"+. The only problem is i know next to nothing about the specs of monitors. I want a monitor that would fit BEST with a single gtx 280, and is less then $500. If you got any info about where or what to get i would be grateful!!

  • Answer:

Samsung is usually the best choice for monitors (at least, thats what i think) Basically, there are two things you look for in monitors: refresh rate and dynamic contrast. Refresh rate is how long it takes for a click from your mouse to appear on screen. The lower the refresh rate, the better. Samsung usually has a 5ms refresh rate which is pretty downright awesome, but they also manufacture 2ms monitors, which are nice too. Then there is the dynamic contrast, which usually looks something like 2000:1 The higher the number, the better. More numbers means more colors your screen can produce and therefore the picture looks a lot better. For a high end video card such as your GTX 280 (lucky butt) you should get a monitor with a high dynamic contrast. :) Good luck!
