Why is my PC's CPU always running at 100?

Windows xp running 100% cpu all the time?

  • it is a acer netbook 1gb ram 1.6ghz processor etc. but the problem is that the cpu is always 100% and there is no way to stop it. it says svchost and pnh.exe are whats running extremely high usually one is at about 60-80% cpu while the other runs 0 and then they will randomely switch back and the one running 60%+ will now be running 0 and vice versa please help nothing i do is working mcafee cant find anything and it is near impossible to run programs. this is not my laptop and my friend who owns it never turned on his system restore therefor that is not a possibility as there is no restore points.

    Well pnh.exe is a trojan/malware file and should be removed ASAP. Try downloading Malwarebytes or booting into Safe mode (F8 before splash screen) and running your antivirus software.
