Why has the burner on my laptop suddenly quit working?
-
Last weekend I was trying to burn a non-copyright protected homemade DVD onto a blank one---essentially to no avail. As you might have guessed, I received tons of error messages, most of which said something like my system doesn't recognize the file type of the files I was trying to capture onto my harddrive (which I had thought I'd easily in turn burn onto a blank disc), What I was doing wrong is another topic; however now my system is only pretending to print new discs. After it goes through all of its usual motions, it spits me out a "successfully burned" discs. The problem is that none of the players here recognize them as properly functioning discs. At first I had thought maybe I was using a corrupted file. However, I eventually ended up deleting all the said files from my hard drive, emptying my recycle bin, and shutting down altogether. Yet none of the three times I went through this process yielded me even one good newly burned disc! I'm hoping that perhaps I inadvertantly changed some setting somewhere and maybe you can direct me toward how to fix it. However, I'm fearing that---despite the fact my laptop is only about a year old---I may be looking into spending a good deal of money and time fixing something more serious. Thanks for any help! James
