My Hp Dell Windows Xp Keeps Rebooting! Help?!?
-
I have an HP dell desktop that runs on Windows xp, and it doesn't have internet. It also has no anti-virus software installed. I was in the middle of attempting to repair the sound on it, when I rebooted it, which was an instruction on my troubleshooting program. The furthest it can go is the blue log-in screen, with the user accounts, and then it goes black, and the light blue HP screen comes up. It then keeps rebooting and rebooting over and over again. How do I stop it so I can log in and finish my process? Also, after the blue HP screen, it goes to this thing where you select one out of two options: Windows xp professional, and the second option is the same. The second option works better, when I select the first, it says"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information". I lost all my manuals, so what should I do?

Answer:
I had that problem before, I turns out that my computer keeps over heating so I dust off the insides of my computer with compress air and carefully ran a vacuum inside it. Try to find out if its over heating, that can cause it to reboot,

try to run windows in safemode and also goto ur recovery options by pressing f8 or by putting ur installation cd and click startup repair or system restore better first do the startup repair ....
try to boot in safe mode prees F8 when your computer boot. With a installation disk you can go to recovery mode and run a FIXBOOT and FIXMBR. It's sound like a hardware problem or file syteme corruption, Good luck
As your computer starts, repeatedly hit the F8 key. It should bring you to a prompt and ask you if you want to start in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, etc. Select Safe Mode. Your computer should start but the graphics will be really big. Once it loads go to: Start -> Settings -> Control Panel Select "System". Then go to the Advanced tab. The third option should be Startup and Recovery. Click on the button in that section that says Settings. In the middle, uncheck where it says Automatically Restart. Then if you want to stop the prompts for the operating system click on where it says Edit at the top. It will open a notepad and you will probably see two entries that mention Windows XP under the operating system section. Just delete (***Only do this if you are comfortable because you can mess up the boot-up for your computer if you delete the wrong thing) the first one that is wrong and make sure you keep the one that looks sort of like this: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WI… Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin Finally, before you reboot, uninstall the troubleshooting program or driver that you had installed. It is causing your problem if you didn't have the reboot problem prior to this. Then reboot and see how it goes.
