New 64 bit Acer with Vista 64. Will Windows XP Pro (32 bit) work nicely on this 64 bit machine? Drivers?
-
My 72 year-old cousin has a new 64 bit Acer with Vista 64 on it. He doesn't like Vista and wants to go back to XP - as he had on his old Dell. Will Windows XP Pro (32 bit) work nicely on a 64 bit machine? And how about getting all the required drives?

Answer:
Yes, XP 32bit will work fine on it. Just get the necessary 32 bit drivers from the Acer site

It should be compatible. Fist check acer's website to find available drives on a 32-bit windows xp OS. It would be horrible to install winXP and find out the sound, video, network, etc. don't work.
I dont think it should be much hassle. Just triple check everything to make sure you got all the drivers!
