How can i shorten my video (MOV file)?
-
I took a video of a lab experiment for physics on my ipod sent it to my email then opened it on my computer. One of the kids swore in the background so I want to edit it out. I just want to delete the first 4 seconds of the video. I have no idea how to, and I cant open its up on windows movie maker. I believe its a MOV file? Also i would rather not download some program if possible.

Answer:
Google for .mov to .avi converter. AVI can be edited by most computer programs. Enjoy life!

Movie Maker can not access MOV files. They are copyrighted by Apple which will not let Windows use them. Your only option is to buy an Apple and use their "iMovie" program to edit the file, or to convert the file to a format that Movie maker can use. That means downloading (or buying) a video convert program. Or downloading (or buying) a different video editor than can read MOV files.
Windows movie maker supports wmv video, not mov video. You have to convert your video to wmv video for editing on windows movie maker. If you don't know how to convert video, I think this step by step direction would help you a lot http://www.freedvdripper.net/guides/convert-video-to-ipod-psp-zune-cell-phone.html Hope it helps. If you have Windows 7, go to Start>All Programs and scroll all the way down and see if you have a Windows Media folder. Double Click it to open it and see if you have Expression Encoder 4. Expression Encoder could be in a folder under its own name. Scroll the list of programs and see if any of these are there. This is a Windows product that you can use to convert video files to another file type (WMV for Movie Maker) You can also trim and do other things to video but, instead of learning to use another program, it would be easier to just convert and then trim in Movie Maker. I know that Expression Encoder 4 will open and convert MOV files. You won't be able to trim that little part of your video without getting the MOV file into a video editor. You can try an online converter. Zamzar has a 100 Mb limit. http://www.zamzar.com/ http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/www.zamzar.com Jay Cut was a great online video editor but it was bought by another company and is no more;-(
