Problem Re-Installing Windows?

Problem with reinstalling windows xp, no mouse power?

  • I have a desktop that would not play sound, the audio driver was no showing under control panel, I figured since the sound used to work and there is nothing on the computer i would just use the restore disk and see if that would reinstall sound drivers. So i put the disk in followed the prompts and about 5 minutes in the message shows " SigmaTel High Definition audio CODEX has not passed windows logo testing to verify it's compatibility with windows xp" and goes on to tell me to pick yes or no to continue installation, however, the mouse and keyboard will not work at this time, the usb ports have no power to them at all. There are no other ports for a mouse on this computer. so i cannot answer the question, so it just sits there. if i manually reboot, it comes back up to restart the installation and can no longer boot up windows until the installation is complete , but it wont complete unless i can answer that question that comes up. Any ideas? The mouse power comes back upon restart, but goes away once installation starts up again.

About the only thing that I can suggest is to try pressing the "tab" key - usually located above "caps lock" to see if it highlights and scrolls yes/ no. If it works just press enter when "yes" is selected.
