How do I view hidden files on my Hard Drive?

Show hidden files ?

  • I tried to copy files to my new external hard drive. When I try to view what was copied, most of the files (including picture files) say skipped, this software won't copy hidden files. Why are they hidden and will it hurt anything to change to show hidden files ? I have Vista Home Premium and I have no complaints with system, just wish it came out sooner.

  • Answer:

go to view options and show hidden files. and then right click the hidden files that appear go to properties and unclick hidden

Yes, you can un-hide files.. go to Windows Explorer, then Tools, then Folder Options, then View, in the Advanced Settings box, you will see where it says Hidden Files and Folders, then an option for Do not show, and Show hidden, etc.. click on Show, of course.. then click Apply, then click, Apply to All Folders.

You cant copy those files because those are the files that make your system run windows, and thats why you cant put them on a disk because they don't want people copying windows xp or vista onto discs and selling them illegally...
