What are seeds and peers in Utorrent?

Help with utorrent (downloads + slowdown)?

• i've been having an unusual problem with utorrent whenever i surf i shut it down because it makes surfing real slow. when i turn it back on the old torrents don't download (ex: downloading A,B,C and the three download fine, then i turn it off. turns back on when i add torrent to D. out of the four only the newest downloads (just D) even when seeds and peers are detected properly) and when i leave it on, my computer slows down. REALLY slows down, to the point that the mouse pointer lags badly too. i know it's utorrent since when i close it and kill the process my comp works fine after a minute. no virus, or spyware or whatever. think i messed up a setting somewhere or something since i tend to do that. any ideas for either or both? not sure if they are related

  I'll have to look deeper for insight, but I suggest you to lay off other download or internet processes. Check your hardware, uninstall and reinstall utorrent with all previous settings eliminated. I kow that you say that you have no ware problems, but trust me, rescan that PC.
