Why won't Minecraft work on my windows XP?

Would Windows Millenium Edition software programes work on Windows XP?

• ive got an old computer which has millenium edition, it works perfectly with internet, however im planning to upgrade it to xp, my only problem is will windows ME programmes like i have the installation cd's for printer, scanner, create cd which is like burning songs work on windows xp once i have upgraded it to xp? also i have a copy of windows xp and i was wondering is it possible for a mate whos given me a copy of xp cd be able to hack into my computer as hes given me a copy of xp? or its not possible to hack into files if installing a cd? (btw please dont tell me not to use a copied cd, heard it a million times, just want your view if its possible to hack into ones computer through installin a cd) also i still have the recovery disk for windows me, can i still change back to windows me if im not happy with windows xp installation?

  Best way to check if software that you have on windows me is to do a search to see if its compatable with xp, though it should be ok. Unless he has written a specific program that is incorporated into xp installation cd then no it cant be hacked. If your hardrive is big enough why dont you have both me and xp on your pc, all you need to do is partition your hardrive and have me on one partition ( c drive ) and xp on the other ( d drive for example ), that way you can switch between the two.
