How much can Nokia N900 cost?

Nokia N900 Nokia N900?

  • Hi =) i am thinking of buying then N900 What else is missing of this phone except mms, java some Google apps? (i hope nothing else) and can they be installed or anything by an update or something? (sorry don't know much about phones and i think install is an inappropriate word for this occasion) Some people said it hasn't got a radio but in GSMarena it says it has. So does it have one or not? Anyone knows anything negative about this phone. BTW tell me your opinion too about N900 and do u suggest another phone? THANKS

  • Answer:

In my opinion there is nothing negative on this phone ... It has for sure FM radio inside the phone and and everything ... I don't thing there is anything negative about it, i was just thiking that it was a bit fat (1.7-1.8 cm) but that's not a problem if you think how much stuff is in the phone. Its awesome and very responsive :) . Don't worry about the java and suff cause people who buy the phone tell Nokia about what they need and the new updates will have everything (as it happened with my 5800 XM). I would never suggest another phone from that first of all because it has the Maemo5 OS and second because its a Nokia. That's all! Hope i helped! :)

MMS, Java, and resistive touch screen technology are the main gripes, but I'd imagine the first two will be added sometime in the next year given there's nothing in the hardware or OS preventing it. It's lacking the ability to do USB Host, but no other smartphone OS can currently do that either. Maemo 5 doesn't come with a radio app built in, but there is already a working user-created one available, so no real issue there. It does do internet radio out of the box. In terms of downsides, well the device is quite thick and heavy. It'll be hard to convince casual users to pick it over, say, the Motorola Droid for cosmetic reasons, even though Maemo is a somewhat nicer OS than Android is. The operating system is still a work in process, so isn't quite as feature complete or well stocked in third party applications as the more mature iPhone OS and Android are, however there aren't the restrictions on what software can be made or on what SDKs developers use so will probably be more appealing to software development in the long run, provided Nokia can sell enough units to get a decent customer base. In terms of what phone to buy, that would depend on what you need and want from a smartphone, but the N900 is right up there with the best of them. The best solution would probably be to make a shortlist of phones that appeal to you and see if you can try them out in a store.
