Why cant i download videos to my mp4/mp3 player?

well i found some cool videos to download to my transonic mp4 player but when i download them in the movie files its not there but i soon figured out that it had to be amv format so i converted the mp4 video to amv and then draged it to my usb drive disk for my mp4 player and its still not there any help
