Who can help me with my second generation Ipod touch?

It will not charge at all. I have tried connecting it to our wii, the computer, and my wall and it just wont charge. I've tried restarting it and I looked at the Apple page and none of the tips are helping. Do you think I can;t save my ipod without having to get it repaired. I'm also afraid to do that cause I may have illegal material on there :/

This happened to my mom's iPhone, it wouldn't turn on at all no matter what she did, and it wouldn't charge. We went to get it repaired and they said her phone was hopeless, and they could do was give her a new phone. I hope your phone has more hope than my mom's if not, sorry.
