What lenses will fit an older canon film camera?

Question regarding camera lenses...:)?

  • I have a canon eos elan film camera which i can't seem to find on the internet but the question is this : if i buy another canon lens, will it fit to my camera or eos elan has its own series of lenses? So said in other words : do all series of canon have their specific lenses?

    You will get the answer as to what lenses fit your camera by others. Or you could find it in the instruction book. I believe the EOS Elan cameras take an older version lens than what is used today. However I could be wrong. From what I can find (not knowing the exact EOS Elan model you have), your camera uses Canon EF mount lenses. That's good news, because all current Canon lenses are EF mount. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS_100 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EF_lens_mount BUT, you will get serious image cut-off (vignetting) if you use EF-S lenses, as those are designed for the current digital consumer DSLR's with smaller than 35mm sensors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EF-S_lens_mount

Any Canon EF lens will be fine, Canon EF-s lenses will not physically mount on your camera, so no problem there, but you do need to beware third party lenses, such as those by Sigma (watch for the DC designation) Tamron or Tokina, as these often use the Canon EF mount even for lenses which are not designed for full frame cameras such as your film elan.
