Film camera: canon ae-1 lenses?
-
So i'm going to purchase a canon ae-1 body only camera, and i want to know what lenses will fit onto the camera. my stepdad has a canon 50d (digital) camera, and has a few lenses for that but will they fit the film camera? i wouldn't think they would so what lenses, (names would be good) will fit onto this camera without any tweaking or adapting? thanks

Answer:
No, the Canon EF mount lenses from the 50D will not work with an AE-1. The AE-1 uses Canon FD mount lenses. They haven't been sold new since the late 1980's. Any lens in FD mount will work, the camera was sold with an FD 50mm f/1.8 as a kit lens. That would be a good place to start... find one of those. Probably $50 or less. Add in a 28mm f/2.8 or so, and something longer like any of the 70-210 F/4 telephoto zooms, and you'll be pretty well set.
