Is it legal to fire someone through a regular employee?

Would you hire someone to fire an employee?

  • Do you think it's unethical for a company to hire someone to fire employees for them so they do not have to do it themselves? i.e. The movie Up In the Air.

  • Answer:

It's not uncommon. Firing is something that needs to be done properly, and if the company does not have people with that skill set, it is better for BOTH parties to have a professional do it.

It is totally ethical and right but for small companies, there is no need because there are fewer employees and you know whether they deserve their positions or not. So for a small company it would rather increase an expense for the company to pay someone hired to fire employees but if the founder doesn't actually look after the business himself, then he needs an honest man to take care of it.

Well, I wouldn't do it because I would have no problem personally firing anyone who deserved it. If you don't want to get fired, then don't do things that get you fired. I don't think it's unethical at all. If they want to waste money just to sleep better at night, that's their choice.
