Waking up frequently - is it insomnia?

Insomnia, waking up at 3am daily for 12 days now.?

  • Today is the 12th day that I have woke up at 3am, on the dot, and can not fall back asleep till 5-6am. I've changed sleeping/eating/exercise habits every possible way I can, still up at 3am. Last night I took 3 Ambien at 10pm, 3am, wide awake. About 5am, feels like the pills are kicking in and I fall asleep at my computer desk till 7am. I don't take drugs, I don't smoke or drink any caffeine. I'm not stressed out and have nothing that I'm 'dwelling' on. Nothing in my house is waking me up at 3am. But 12 days now and my brain feels like pudding. Thoughts?

  • Answer:

Welcome to ambien hell. That is the way ambien works - you sleep for maybe 5 hours, and then you wake up and can't sleep anymore. Unfortunately, it only gets worse. The only answer I found was to quit taking the ambien.
