Hard Lump, Swollen Lymph Nodes in back of Neck? Help!?
-
Yesterday, I was washing my jeep and I noticed a Hard Lump about the size of a Nickel on the back of my Neck about where the Hairline starts. I was trying to think if it was there before because I think it was, but not as big. As I was feeling around back there, I noticed swollen lymph nodes about the size of a pea. There are two that are swollen and run down the side of the left side of my neck. They kind of hurt when I touch them and they hurt sometimes when i am not touching them. Yesterday and the day before, I went fishing and hiking in the woods. It has been mild and Mosquitos are out. I do have a big bump on the top of my head from a mosquito bite on the left side as well. I am concerned because I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and am currently taking Enbrel for it. Enbrel could cause Lymphoma, TB, and has other medical side effects. I don't feel sick, I don't have any other symptoms other than a little bit of Drainage in the back of my throat from my sinuses which is common for me. I also have a sunburn on the back of my neck and my face from being out in the sun. I also ate a hamburger that was a little raw the other day and was concerned of the Toxoplasmosis. Does anybody have any suggestions? If you are a nurse or doctor, let me know if you are. If not, I am still open for suggestions. Yesterday, I also went to the ER (Sunday) and they had given me 500 Mg Cephalexin and which I was told to take 2 tablets at a time, twice a day for 14 days. The doctor said I had Cervical Lymphadenis. But he didn't give me a blood test, or anything other than feeling it. Plus he didn't know anything that I mentioned here.

The symptoms you're concerned about is from the Cervical Lymphadenis. It is an infection and will clear up with the meds you were given. No need to worry. You doctor knew what was going on, and you'll be fine.
go to doctor now never mess around with lumps better safe than sorry
Sounds like you may have an inflamed Sebaceous gland. These are tiny glands all over the skin like the neck, hands, soles of the feet, etc. They secrete an oily substance called sebum. It is used to lubricate the skin. Sometimes these glands become inflamed because the opening is plugged, a bacteria has set in or sometimes worse. I had this happen years ago and it proved to be a minor inflammation, nothing serious. Your doctor can use a needle to aspirate (draw out) a sample of fluid to examine. It is a fairly painless procedure but I would recommend you have it looked at. Hope this helps.
