Why do i feel sleepy/tired after sleeping?

  • I'm 16 and I'm not overweight. I eat 3 meals a day and always do my homework. I usually go to bed around 10:45pm and wake up at 5:45 am which gives me 7 hours of sleep which is considered ok. However i always feel sleepy/tired after waking up. I can't think a little clearly and my eyes are a bit heavy. i don't think its anything serious and I don't drink drinks with caffeine or I'm not depressed. do you guys know how to not make myself tired/sleepy? thanks in advance

    it might be mono, not to worry mono is not a dirty thing but I know that it will surface when you least expect it and won't subside until medicated, it can be contracted so easily. Or maybe your body is going threw change, that makes all young women very tired, one other thing do you have plenty of sunshine where you live? sometimes we just need a blast of vitamin D, if you are missing out on the rays or don't have time through the day, visit your local tanning establishment it may just help. good luck friend.

try getting around 8 hours of sleep. Go to bed at 10 and try waking up around 6

7 hours of sleep is not enough for you. If you are active you probably need 8-9 hours. Back up your bed time in 20 minute intervals and see when you start feeling refreshed when you wake up.

You may just need more sleep. Try going to bed around 9:00 if you have to wake up so early. A lot of people need at least 8 or 9 hours of sleep to function properly. It just varies by person.

do you snore at night? It's possible you could have a condition called sleep apnea, although a lot of people that have this condition are overweight that is not always the case. Web MD has a great article on it. Testing for it is a simple sleep study, but get it checked out it can be serious!
