Will cold sores from kissing someone go away?

  • PLEASE READ:I am wondering if there is some type of medication that can at least make the cold sore go away temporarily, I know that if it is HSV-1 or HSV-2(herpes) and it is in your bloodstream, then you can't cure it, and you can't cure it from flaring up again, but I am wondering if there is some type of home remedy or over the counter medication that can help it go away for a little while. BTW: I got this cold sore from kissing my boyfriend(I think that may be the cause...not a 100% positive), and I think this because just 1-3 days after kissing him I got 2 cold sores above my upper lip area. go to the pharmacy and get cold sore medication cream or whatever they have..if they does not slowly cure itself, assume herpes..then yeah but for now get some cream or put make up on it

You are correct, once you get the herpes virus, it will usually keep coming back. It can however stay dormant for a long time before showing up again. You can use over the counter (OTC) medications like Abreva. This is usually used when you feel it coming on your lip (the tingly feeling). This may prevent the cold sore from appearing, or even help quicken the recovery. It loses its effectiveness if the cold sore ruptures. You can use it up to 5 times a day on the effected area and continue until it is healed.
