Does the Differin Acne Gel really work?

If an acne treatment worked the first time, will it work for me the second time?

  • I'm a 21 year old female, and have had acne since a teenager. When I was 18-19, my doc gave me this a cleanser, toner, gel product line. The toner had a very low % of salicylic acid, the gel contained 8% glycolic acid. In addition, I used differin and clindoxyl *(BP). This combination worked for me. When I ran out of the products, I stopped using them for about a year. Combined with a bad skin care routine, my acne is returning, only on my cheeks. One cheek has TONS of small flesh-coloured bumps, the other has small bumps and some that have formed into larger ones. My doc put me back on the cleanser and toner and I am on a higher % glycolic acid gel (15%). I've been on these for about 3 weeks, and my skin is purging. I am wondering, if these products worked for me the first time, are chances are that they will also work the second time?

Go back to your dermatologist, tell him what you just told us, very important. Be extremely cautious when it comes to your face.
