Treatment for ingrown toenail?
-
Went to a MD who scheduled me to have my infected ingrown toenail removed in 2WEEKS! Does this seem correct or should I get a second opinion. I am in a lot of pain. The MD did prescribe antibiotics for two weeks, but I don't see how that is going to help when I still have a piece of toenail in my toe. I have had this problem before and usually the MD removes the nail when I go in and we finish up with antibiotics. It took me 4 hours to be seen at this clinic although there really weren't that many patients and by the time I was seen it was 30minutes until closing.

Answer:
Sounds right to me. I had to have one surgically cut out way back in the day. Once they cut out the right and left edges of nail and used a drug to kill that area of the nail bed, the ingrown toenail never recurred.
