Can you join the military with easily controlled/managed breathing allergies?

I'm having trouble breathing, and we thought it was originally allergies; the pills aren't working?

  • I've been having trouble breathing for about a week, where every 5-15 seconds I gasp for air. Sometimes I breathe in desperately, as it feels like the air isn't fully reaching my lungs and I end up sort of hyperventilating. We went to the emergency room because I was in one of those hyperventilating moments, and my arms were going numb and heavy, and so the doctor's took a chest x-ray but found nothing out of the ordinary. He said it was probably allergies so suggested I try Benadryl. However, the pills aren't working, and I've been taking them for 2 days. I've been getting more exhausted with such heavy breathing and I've been lacking concentration. I've also been sleeping a lot more; seems like I can't get enough. I don't really know what to do. My mom said if the pills really don't end up working then she'd just take me to the doctor's, but what would they do there that the hospital wouldn't? I don't know what's wrong but I'm tired of breathing like this. Is there something I can do to stop it?

  • Answer:

an aerosol breathing treatment is most likely what they do or ask for it
