How large are the typical gallstones?

How long does a recovery for gallstones last?

  • My mom had her gallstones taken out a few years back, and she said that it took a few weeks. She says that since Im young(18 years), I could get better within 2 weeks or so. What do you think? thank you :)

  • Answer:

These days it's done laproscopical. They do a horizontal cut at the bottom between your ribs, about 2 inches or less and a little cut just under your belly button (half an inch) and another little one on your right side. They use instruments in these little holes to do the surgery. They take out your gallbladder, but that's fine, you can do without it no problem. I stayed in hospital only 2 nights and seriously within 5 days I was doing just about everything normally. I'm old, like in my 40s, so a young person would feel better faster. And the scars are virtually invisible, unless you look hard for them. It takes about a year for them to go from a red colour to a white color. I had my out 2 years ago.
