How to develop muscle tone?

i'm a guy who was born with very little muscle tone and i've been that way my whole life. i never really played any sports, i did swimming for a while which helped with my tone for a while, but i didn't really like it. so, i really want to develop muscle, particularly on my arms. my arms are so skinny and it's kinda embarrassing. i don't own any dumbbells though, and i wouldn't wanna go to a gym. i read that cans work as dumbbells, but would they really make a difference? any suggestions?

You can start by just being a generally active person. Start playing basketball or football, do some bodyweight exercises (push ups, pull ups, sit ups) and go for runs on a daily basis. Try to eat as clean as you can. If you want to take your physique to the next level, however, you're going to have to either join a gym or purchase an adequate amount of fitness equipment.
