  Look for a roommate finder service in your area; however, there is no totally safe way of finding roommates. In many areas, craigslist is still the best method. A few suggestions: * Don't list your address or full name. * Set-up a Google Voice phone number and e-mail so you can easily ignore or avoid suspicious inquiries. * Thoroughly interview prospective tenants on the phone or at a coffee shop before giving out your full name and address. It's similar to dating in that you'll need to ask a lot of basic lifestyle questions (i.e. work, home habits, sleeping schedule, cleaning habits, etc). If someone seems weird to you, just tell them no or that you've selected someone else. * Consider using a local screening company to process rental applications (criminal, credit, etc.) -- although a prospective tenant will probably want to see your unit before applying.
