Do you know any way to get credit report online?

How can I get charge-offs or even the whole account removed from my credit report?

  • Okay here are the details. I bought a car back in December of 2007. I was only financing the car for five months when I then got in a car accident which totaled my car in May of 2008. I was told by my insurance/finance company that the insurance would take care of all costs of the remainder of the vehicle. In November of '08 I decide to buy a new car, but get denied because there are charge-offs/collections on my credit report for the account of the company that I was financing with. The charge offs were from the months of June 2008 til December of 2008 when I paid it. I investigated and then found out from the finance company that a measly $123 was still owed by me. I then paid that right away to the finance company. I was never notified by anyone that this money was still owed to them. I never received any phone calls, letters or e-mails. Ever since then I've been going back and forth with the credit bureaus/finance company to get these charge-offs removed. I've written numerous amount of letters to the credit bureaus and the finance company and there is just no getting through to them. Equifax actually removed the entire account from my credit report which is fine by me. But the derogatory information is still on TransUnion and Experian. On TransUnion and Experian it says on there that the account was "paid, but was a charge-off." I need the charge-offs for the months between the accident and the time that I paid it, because I was never notified that I even owed that and I think that is just wrong of them to not notify me whatsoever. I have no idea what to do anymore. I start a new college very soon and I can't even get approved for a car, because this is on my credit. Heck I can't even get approved for a student credit card at my bank, because of this. I've had one credit card since I was 18 and I've paid that every month on time. I'm 21 now and this has just gone on way too long. If you know of anything that can help please let me know! I'm in desperate need!

  • Answer:

Contact the collection agency and have them fax or mail you something stating that you have payed the debt in full and that it is satisfied. Copy the letter and send it to both of the credit companies. Do not send the original. Be persistant and polite.
