When cars have that ORANGE tape around the windows what does that mean?

My cars lights are dim and my windows gown up and down slow is this the battery?

  • ok so i got a 97 monte carlo and my inside lights are dim my outside lights are awsome like on the dash board and the spedometer lights are very dim and the dimmer switch is all the way up as high as it can go. and my windows go up and down slow the passenger window is ok but kinda slow the driver side is very slow and the driver side door wont unlock with the key but the passenger side will. could that just mean i gotta charge my battery as far as the lights go and windows?

  • Answer:

it might be the battery, but it could also be the alternator. a quick test is to start the vehicle up and remove the positive terminal from the battery. if the car shuts off your alternator is junk. if the car continues to run then it is your battery.

yes it is.

its just wearing down its an older car.

best to get your charging system checked to make sure you don't replace something that doesn't need replaced.

Either alternator or battery, places like autozone and napa test both, they can pinpoint the problem for you

If you're not much of a mechanic type I'd recommend you take it into a shop a get the battery tested. Although thats probably what it is, it could also be a whole ton of other issues including burned out motors in the windows or you might need to replace some parts in the electrical system itself. If its been more then 2 years since the batteries been changed, check it out and see if you can get a replacement from a car shop or even one of those little car parts dealers like AutoZone. Heck, Even Wal-Mart has the batteries nowadays, just make sure you get the right kind that will fit the terminals of your car or get a mechanic to help ya out. Best of Luck!

Buy a new battery to solve the problem might work out OK but there again have your charging system looked at because that's what keeps your battery all charged up.

Aye. Charge or replace if it wont hold the charge for very long.
