How To Play Guitar?

How hard is it to play guitar?

  • Okay, so I'm going into grade 9 and I'm thinking about taking guitar because it would be really cool to learn how to play guitar, right? So anyway, I have never played guitar before, and I've never really played any instrument before except grade 7 band where I played clarinet which I sucked at but I had asthma, so not my fault, it was really hard for me. Anyway, should I take beginning guitar as my elective? How hard is it, and how long would it take? We only get a semester, and the next year if we take it in grade 10. So what I'm asking is: How hard is it to play guitar? How long would it take? Should I just pick something else since I'm not really that good with instruments and have no experience? And do you think I would have to buy the guitar, or would we use the school ones? If we have to buy them, around how much would it cost? Sorry a lot of questions, it's just it has to do with my entire next semester so I don't wanna make a mistake. By the way, it will most likely be acoustic guitar...

If you really like playing guitar dont give up because you dont know how to play it. Playing guitar takes a while to learn especially if you dont practice. Having a teacher to help you out will definitely help you alot, and being in a class with other players will get you more into playing. It will take about 4-7 months to understand everything and to be able to play most of the songs you like. It is hard in the beginning because your fingers are not used to the chords and also because the strings will hurt your fingers. If you are worried about the strings hurting your fingers you can start off with lyon strings, but dont spend too much money on one of those guitars because you will want to play with iron strings. And it is also very annoying in the beginning because you wont know how to play anything, but trust me, it gets really fun to play once you've learned a bit. And your school probably provides guitar to rent. It will be better that buying one.

Learning to play a guitar is very hard indeed. But it is well worth the effort as you will enjoy it a life time, and cherish your beautiful guitars. I have played for 40 years, and I'm still learning.

You're going to be pretty terrible for the first couple months, but eventually you'll get it. After that it becomes a fun hobby and it gets you the ladies aw yeah

It's actually pretty easy if you want to be lead guitar and play tabs. (My opinion) but If you want to be rhythm guitar and play chords, then it might be a little harder.
