How to sell on craigslist?

How do i sell on craigslist?

  • okay so i'm trying to sell some stuff on craiglist and someone has responded and they emailed me and they want to buy the certain item im trying to sell, and this is what they said Thanks for the quick response... Am satisfied with the price and condition of the item. I will like to make an outright purchase of the item, so i will like to proceed in instructing my bank to issue out a certified check to you and upon the confirmation and clearance of payment my shipper will come for the pick-up at your location. So get back to me with your full name, address, zip code and phone number... so that payment can be mail out asap. let me read from you today. I'm not too sure how would i make the transaction? should i send him my address and then he's going to send me a check? or should i personally meet with him and ask him for cash? also if i send it out through mail do i charge him for shipping?

  • Answer:

NO! If he is going to pick up at your location - have him bring CASH. The certified check will turn up as fraudulent - only AFTER you've handed over the item, and he's long gone with the goods. A common scam. Ask for cash only if they are going to pick up. And when working with a LEGITIMATE buyer - you might consider meeting in a public place. (I garantee you that your current "interested buyer" will not take you up on the cash option. Oh - also note the telltale signs that english is not their first langauage. There is quite a network of overseas scams involving more local men for the "pick up" end of it...his "shipper" who would come and relieve you of your item. Actually, I would seriously consider just deleting those inquiries. I've yet to hear of a legit one.)

Craiigs List is full of scams. For selling, best rule is cash only. But this person is a clear scam.
