Is psychology a good career in the UK?
-
Im thinking of studying psychology in university as i am really interested in it, but i was wondering what the job market and pay is like in the UK. How much do you tend to earn in a year in different aspects of psychology? Especially in neuropsychology? Is it difficult to get a job in psychology? Which job has a good pay or is most available? Thanks in advance :)

Answer:
I'm not an expert but I know that there aren't that many jobs in it, plus there will be a lot of competition in a few years as there has been a massive rise in the amount of people choosing it at A-level. I'm sure its good pay it's just really difficult to get into, you'd probably have more luck if you trained in counseling and stuff as well, or teaching it? Also, a lot of people think to go into psychology you should take it in school, but the big universities don't like it as a subject to be taken at a-level, they'd rather you take facilitating subjects like sciences which give you the transferable skills, I don't think you actually need an a-level in psychology to do it at uni.

Do it because you're interested in it. Whatever you study at university doesn't really matter anyhow. I read mathematics and now work in sales. My boss read modern languages! The vast majority of people who study psychology don't end up in the field - who actually employs psychologists anyway? In itself it's a poor career choice. But since your eventual career won't be linked to what you study at university then go ahead and do it!

u can go and check the payscale.com to check the average salary will be paid to psychologists in uk. There will be more information about salaries So. I am not sure that it is difficult to get this job so I suppose it would be easier if you are willing to be self employed or working in hospitals but it would be too risky. The job that has a good pay is well...u mentioned that you want to study psychology so this is part of doctor but the best pay part of doctor is Surgerical Programs units. So if you are looking to be more rather than doctors then you could become businessman or to be chief construction, lawyer, which are the careers that have the best pay.
