In a Porsche Carrera, at what speed does the fin come up?

Do all 2012 porsche 911's come with 7 speed manuals?

  • Answer:

All of the actual 2012 Porsche 911s will come with 7 speed manuals as standard equipment, with the 7 speed PDK 'automated manual' as an extra cost option. The new 'nearly from the ground up' 991-body 911 has just been released. As C7S said, only the Carrera and Carrera S are for sale in this new body style. The 991 Carrera Cabriolet and Carrera S Cabriolet will be at your dealer any day now. Any Turbos being sold as 2012 cars are the older 997-body style; they can be had with either the six (6) speed manual or the 7 speed PDK. IT will be upwards of a year before the 991 Turbo is released. Porsche only builds the Turbo S now and then. There was a 2011 Turbo S; the one that preceded it was a 2005. There is no 2012 Turbo S. I'd be very surprised to learn that any of the 2011s remain for sale at dealerships as new cars. They can be bought, used, for very near the new price. ADDED: While the 530 HP 2011 911 Turbo S is the fastest street Porsche ever built in 0 to 60 mph, 0 to 100 mph, quarter mile, and perhaps even in 0 to 140 mph tests, it is not the most powerful Porsche. The 2011 GT2RS, with 620 HP has that distinction. Only 500 GT2RS cars were built and sold. They are available, used, generally for more than their new cost of $240,000.

Yes all come with 7 speed manual or optional PDK. The 2012 Turbo S is still the same as the 2011 design. And yes it only comes with PDK :( Only the Carrera and Carrera S were changed for 2012 with a new body and engines. They still need to make the Carrera 4 and 4S versions, the Convertible versions, and the Turbo, GT2, GT3, etc.

According to Porsche, there is 18!!! different 911 setups! you really need to narrow that search to get better answers. And yes, most of them comes with PDK, even the most powerful version the Turbo S, sorry :(. Look, you can use a car performance simulator[1] to virtually test any car you may like and help you decide if good or not there.

NowWhat

In the US, only the base Carrera and Carrera S are available at the moment in the new 991 body style. The other 911 models have not yet come on the market. And yes, the 7 speed manual is standard equipment. PDK is a $4k option.

The "regular" turbo comes with a 6 speed manual, not seven, as does the Carrera 4 Believe it or not, Porsche actually gives you this information on their website!!!! http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/911/
