What would I do in a hospital for Work Experience?

What to do for work experience?

  • Answer:

Most high-street stores will consider offering work experience - schools usually have folders with a lot of info about companies that are already offering places, but if there isn't anything in there that you like then it'd fine to just approach a company yourself and ask. So you should just go into the store, ask for a quick word with the manager and ask if they would consider you. There's not a lot of places that would say no - it's free labour for them! But do keep in mind that as the work experience person you will always be given the easy, menial jobs, and in most places this can still be ok, but in retail in can get deadly boring. I worked in a shop all through uni and hated it - I know that if I wasn't getting paid I would have found it impossible to stay motivated. So really think about it and use it as a opportunity to go somewhere interesting and different. Even if you plan on working in retail, you'll have years and years of normal working life, so why not use this as a chance to go somewhere a bit more fun and make the most of it?

Any work experience in any setting is really good and will help you when you apply for jobs. Voluntary work is just as useful although obviously not paid. These days employers are looking for that 'something extra' in applicants and both the above can provide this. Good luck!
