How big should my fuse be for my aftermarket sound system?

Why would a 1989 Lincoln Continential JBL sound system be getting power to the radio but not the CD player if you already checked the amp and changed the fuse?

  • Answer:

Most car stereos have an internal switch to change the power supplyfrom the tuner section to the cassette or disc motors and (maybe) preamp. Should be aligned so that inserting the disc trips the switch. The switch iseither a small box with a "lever" that depresses a button or an optical sensor. If the switch is mechanical it WILL need to be replaced. New AnswerMost 1989 Lincoln systems have AM/FM Cassette head unit with separate CD player (either CD changer or single play unit). The CD player is connected to the head unit by a multi-pin cable. Check cable connection behind both radio and CD player
