Is it bad to sleep in my contacts?

  • I just got daily contacts about 2-3 months ago. I put new ones in every morning and take them out before i go to sleep and throw them out. But when i come home from school i take a 1-2 hour nap occasionaly with my contacts still in. Is that bad? When i wake up my eyes are not blood shot but they are a little red and it doesnt irratate me.

Yes it is bad, but I'm guilty of napping in my contacts too. Your contacts usually get dried out and stick onto your eyeball more, so it may be harder to take them out. Sometimes they can get stuck behind your eyelid as well. Nothing bad has happened to me yet though.

Your only supposed to sleep in contacts designed for that purpose. No, it won't necessarily hurt you, but it can cause eye infections. If your going to sleep in them just go ahead and buy the kind that are designed for that. Air Optix Night & Day Aqua is a good brand for that. They're designed to allow more oxygen through the lense, which is beret for your eye.
