Extra mic for camcorder without mic jack?

What is an HD camcorder with and external mic jack and is under 400$?

  • Answer:

Just setting the expectation: "Good quality video for short films" under $400 is unreasonable - assuming the comparison is to what professionals use... generally starting in the $3,000 and above area (not including mics, lights, stands, cables, etc.). If you are merely looking for video-sharing site quality, AND the lighting is good, then pretty much any camcorder will do... And a mic jack is only 1/2 the equation. The other half means manual audio control. I *think* the Canon HF M series is about as close as I can get... An alternative is to pick any camcorder and record the audio separately (just like the pros), sync the audio when editing... Whether the investment is cash or time, you get what you pay for.

No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.
