Do I have a Sleeping Disorder?
-
I suffer from OCD, Generalised Anxiety Disorder and Depression. I am currently on SSRI Anti-depressants. However, both before I started taking these pills and during, I still suffered from relentless fatigue which is as of yet unexplained. I had Psychotherapy over Summer and dramatically reduced all my disorders, as did the pills, however the fatigue did not subside whatsoever. I feel excessively tired all day, loss of energy, hallucinations, and horrendous nightmares every night, I cannot remember the last time I had a proper dream it must have been years ago. It doesn't matter how long I sleep for (which is always a good amount at night), I always sleep in the day and I always feel lack of energy and fatigue. In the last 6 months I have also experienced three episodes of insomnia which has not happened before. I cannot work, I cannot concentrate, I just want to sleep. Do I have a sleeping disorder?

Answer:
Since you have a doctor, talk to him about it. Just being sleepy is not necessarily a sleeping disorder. Some medications for the illnesses you have may be responsible, as can the illnesses themselves.

You could possibly have a sleep disorder, but you would likely benefit from continuing to participate in psychotherapy. Your therapist could also assess your sleep patterns. They could be related to your other diagnoses, anxiety, or mood problem. There are so many potential causes that it the best possible answer would be to go to seek the help of a professional. Not your primary care physician, however. Make sure it is a psychiatrist, psychologist, or mental health counselor.

May be. There are many things that can create sleep disorders but if you could let me know your sleep cycle, surly I can help you out. :)
