Sleep Paralysis, Lucid Dreaming, what really happened?

  • I've been trying to lucid dream for a few days. I've read quite a few things about both Lucid Dreaming and Sleep Paralysis and I know how they manifest. I've also realized that I've had Sleep Paralysis at least 3 times before, the first one when I was about 8. Anyway, something strange happened to me this morning. I finally had my first Lucid Dreaming experience. This was nothing unusual, I just dreamed that I was home and when I realized I was dreaming I wanted to fly, but then my alarm clock woke me up because I had forgotten to set it off. I was really angry and disappointed. I closed it and went back to sleep (it was 6:45 am). The strange things start here. As I was lying on my right side, with my hand under the pillow, out of no where I put up my mobile phone to check the time and see if I was lucid dreaming or not (this is my way of testing). I don't remember the time exactly, but I know that the first time I checked it was :48 and the next second it was :50. Then I realized I was dreaming. I wanted to get up, but I couldn't move. The only thing I could do was look at my had which was under the pillow again. I closed my eyes and tried to get up again. It was hard but I felt like I was getting up. It was like something was pushing me back. I could really feel pain when trying to get up, but I don't remember if I had breathing problems. When I opened my eyes to see I was in the same position. I tried it again with my eyes closed and the same thing happened. As I was trying to get up I was thinking that I might have Out Of Body experience, but I was wrong (or at least I think). I also tried to fly, with my eyes closed, and it felt like I could, but when I opened my eyes I was in the same position. Then I remembered that I could do anything if I was lucid dreaming. I asked for someone to come and pick me up. Then a bright light appeared and a little man, whose face I couldn't see. He was black and white and was shinning. He tried to pull me up, but failed and disappeared. I was trying to wake up but I couldn't. I was really scared and I told myself that I no longer wanted to lucid dream. Still the only thing I could do was look at my hand under the pillow. Then I tried again to get up and succeeded. Now I was standing on my feet on the bed (or I was flying, I don't remember clearly). There were 4 people coming from my parents' room and it felt like they were trying to help me, but then I was back on my position. But then I could move my hand from under the pillow. Then I heard my father calling my name from his room. I tried to scream and get his attention, but I couldn't make sound. Then I started scratching the wall (my bed is near the wall), but he couldn't hear me. Then it felt like I was finally waking up. When I could finally move, I ran to my father, who was watching the TV in his room, and hugged him, scared. When he asked me what had happened, I finally woke up. When I woke up, I was sweating hard, but it was quite cold in my room. I was standing in the same position, with my hand under the pillow, but I was really awake. Strange was that my father wasn't even home. And in his room were my mom and my brother. My mom told me this morning that I had been gnashing my teeth the whole night. It was nothing like the Sleep Paralysis I've had before because it was morning and there was nothing scary in my room. Also, I have to mention that it wasn't really my first Lucid Dreaming experience. It had happened to me before, but every time I realized I was dreaming I tried to wake up, for an unknown reason. There kind of experiences happened to me when I was younger. Now I'm 14. I'm really into these kind of paranormal, supernatural activity and anything about dreams, spirits, other worlds fascinates me. Please tell me, what the heck happened? Did this happen to you too? What did you do? Any information is valuable. Thank you!

Sounds like it was a lucid dream. If you thought it might have been an OBE at the time, then that probably would have influenced the dream. Good luck with your dreaming, and your OBE! :)

I recently found out that I have sleep-paralysis. When that happens I'm aware of the fact that I'm asleep and want my body to wake up but I can't! It's so scary! Sometimes I eventually will wake up after my heart starts to beat up very fast. Sometimes I will stay in this sleep-paralysment and just dream that I'm asleep aand sometimes I just flow above my body and hear voices or see these black shadows or other crazy. I only experience this while asleep not in daytime. I'm not sure if this is lucid dreaming but what I experience is the same what you described. Sometimes I have two weeks in a row for three times and then a month nothing. Please watch out with the gnashing with your teeth. This indicates stress. Goos luck.

my sleep paralysis is usually accompanied by this kind of lucid dreaming. use to be i would be paralysed and my eyes would be open but i would halucinate and see people comming towards me.. like scary old ladys and what not the last few years i have had experiences closer to what you experienced. my mind is awake, i will occassionally open my eyes, see the room, but then drift back into a dream state where i am stuggling to get up, sometimes i make it up out of bed, just to realize that it was fake, and i am back inbed, then stuggle to move, and get up only to realize that THAT was also fake and i am still in bed. usually something is trying to grab me, or is grabbing me. if ever i get up and try to look at where i was, i am instantly back in bed.. it feels aweful...... i had an experience where i was wide awake and actually thrashing around while a hand was pulling my face into my pillow (or down into hell). this one was unique because i never actually woke up, i was ALREADY awake, and the hand was pulling me until i broke free.. i had kicked stuff over so i knew the thrashing was real. a few times while trying to wake up from lucid dreams, my gf has entered the room and i plead with her to wake me up only to realize it is something else that just looks like her and isn't going to help me... those are freaky these things are NOT super natural... they are just creepy things that the mind does. schizophrenics and halucinagenic drug users have simular odd things happen with their minds too without benefits of ghosts, aliens or in my case witches trying to steal their bodies... but i do admit they feel really spooky.. i can see how people with sleep paralysis have thought they were possessed or alien abducted
