Hormone Replacement Therapy Question?

  • I've heard that taking female hormones has a major effect on dampening the male libido, but am not sure what this means. Does it mean that you no longer wake up every morning with an erection and feel the need for sex several times a day? Or does it mean that you still feel the constant need for sex but are just not able to perform? The former state would be quite desirable as freedom from male urges. The second would be quite intolerably frustrating, any advice welcome.

The effects are goining to vary person to person & the exact drug / combination taken. My own experience was I lost most desire as well as abillity quite quickly. A friend however said it had much less effect on abillity to her dismay. It can still be fustrating as it doesn't stop you being attracted to someone but it makes relationships rather difficult. But after GRS it isn't an issue & some libdo does return gradually post op.

I'm on 1.5mg of sandrena estradiol hemihydrate per day(oestrogen) and it had no effect on my libido. So I was put on Zoladex implants which did have quite an impact and stopped my sex drive. The drawback with zoladex is that everytime you have a new implant put in(every 3 months in my case) you have a surge of testosterone, bringing back the male libido. This is not nice at all. I'm hoping that I might have SRS ("the operation") soon and then this will resolve itself.
